Playfully helping the health of body, mind and spirit
Purpose: Spiritual concentration Center: Upper Tan Tien Goal: Spiritual enhancement
Overview: In this tradition, the sword form is not for fighting or fencing with others. It is for developing spiritual concentration. Having a good spiritual concentration enhances the health of your body, mind and spirit in a very positive way.
General sword dancing is for pleasure. As a form of spiritual cultivation, it works through transforming essences from hormonal level to become the chi, and then transforming the chi to become shen, the spiritual potency. With this in mind, sword practice can be considered a spiritual practice as well. If your intent is to use sword practice for spiritual purposes, then it will help your cultivation.
Further reading on sword practice can be found by Hua-Ching Ni’s book “Mastering Chi, Strength from Movement” and DVD Sword by Dr. Maoshing Ni is also available at Tao EShop.
